Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 18, 2026
Mount Storage runs 10 self-storage facilities in Texas and this website, mountstorage.com. This policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use and share it, and the choices and rights you have, including your rights under the Texas Data Privacy and Security Act. It covers our website, online rentals, phone calls, texts and emails with us, and our facilities.
The short version
- We use your information to rent and manage storage, answer your questions, keep our facilities secure and improve our website.
- We do not sell your personal information.
- We use Google advertising tools that can show you Mount Storage ads on other websites (targeted advertising). You can opt out at any time in Your privacy choices, and we honor Global Privacy Control.
- Online rentals and payments run through Cubby, our storage management software. Card numbers are never stored on our website.
Information we collect
Information you give us
- Contact details: your name, email address, phone number and mailing address.
- Rental details: the unit or parking space you rent, move-in date, rental agreement and electronic signature, gate access code, an alternate contact person, a description of a vehicle, boat or trailer you park, and a government ID if we need to verify your identity.
- Payment details: entered on Cubby’s secure checkout and handled by its payment processor. We can see the card type and last four digits, not the full card number.
- Messages: what you send us through the contact form, the waitlist, email, chat, text or phone.
- Choices you make, such as tenant protection or your own insurance.
Information collected automatically
- Device and usage information: IP address, browser and device type, pages you view, buttons you tap (for example Rent now, Call or Directions), the website that sent you, approximate location based on your IP address (about city level), and dates and times.
- Cookies and similar technologies, described in Cookies and tracking.
- Your device location, only if you tap “Use my location” or “Closest to me.” Your browser uses it to find the nearest Mount Storage. We don’t store your coordinates; we may record which location was closest.
Information from our facilities
- Our gate systems record when access codes are used. Our facilities may use video cameras for security.
Information from others
- Cubby and our other service providers, Google (for example advertising and call reports), and people who give us your details, such as a tenant who lists you as an alternate contact.
How we use information
- To rent units and parking, take payments, manage your account and give you gate access.
- To communicate with you: answer questions, send receipts, payment reminders, account and access messages, and notices the law requires, including notices under Texas lien law (Texas Property Code Chapter 59). With your permission, we may also send offers.
- To keep tenants, property and our facilities safe, and to prevent fraud, spam and misuse.
- To understand how our website is used and which ads work, so we can improve both.
- To show Mount Storage ads (see Targeted advertising).
- To comply with the law, enforce our rental agreements and protect our rights.
How we share information
We share personal information only as described here:
- Service providers that work for us: Cubby (storage management, online rentals, payments, electronic leases and the waitlist) and its payment processor; WP Engine and its network partners (website hosting and security); Google (Analytics, Tag Manager and Ads); HubSpot (chat and contact management); and our email and text message providers. They may use the information only to provide their services to us.
- The tenant protection or insurance provider you choose.
- Lien sales: if rent goes unpaid, Texas law lets us sell stored property after giving the required notices. The advertisement of a sale includes the tenant’s name, and we may share the details needed with an auction service or a collection agency.
- Legal and safety reasons: to comply with a law, court order or lawful request from law enforcement, or to protect the rights, property or safety of our tenants, our staff, the public or Mount Storage.
- Business transfers: if facilities or the business are sold or merged, information may transfer to the new owner, who must protect it as this policy describes.
- Anyone else, with your consent.
The types of personal data we share are the contact, rental, payment, message, device and usage information described above, each only with the types of recipients that need it. We do not sell personal data, and we do not process sensitive data (as Texas law defines it) for advertising.
Targeted advertising
We use Google Ads, including remarketing. Google’s cookies can recognize that you visited mountstorage.com and show you Mount Storage ads on other websites and apps, and they help us measure results, such as rental clicks and calls that came from an ad. Texas law calls this targeted advertising. You can opt out in any of these ways:
- Use the buttons in Your privacy choices below.
- Turn on Global Privacy Control (GPC) in your browser. We treat it as an opt-out automatically.
- Manage Google ad personalization in Google’s My Ad Center.
- Call, text or email us (see Contact us).
Your privacy choices
Checking this browser’s setting…
This choice is saved in a cookie on this browser and device. If you clear your cookies or use another browser, choose again, or turn on Global Privacy Control in your browser.
Opting out turns off advertising cookies and ad personalization from this website on this browser. You may still see Mount Storage ads that aren’t based on your visits here. Google Analytics, which counts visits without targeting ads, keeps working; you can block it with Google’s Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
Cookies and tracking
- Necessary: website security and performance (WP Engine), online rental and checkout (Cubby), and spam protection on forms (including Google reCAPTCHA in Cubby’s forms).
- Analytics: Google Analytics, loaded through Google Tag Manager, to see which pages and buttons people use.
- Advertising: Google Ads (conversion measurement and remarketing).
- Chat and contact: HubSpot.
- Our own: ms_customer remembers that a browser belongs to an existing tenant (it stores only the word “tenant”) so our reports can tell new customers from current ones; ms_ads_optout remembers your advertising choice.
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Some features, such as online rental, may not work without them. Browser “Do Not Track” signals aren’t a standard, so we don’t respond to them, but we do honor Global Privacy Control for advertising.
Calls, texts and emails
- Phone numbers shown with our ads may be Google forwarding numbers, so Google can report call details such as the caller’s area code, the time and the length of the call.
- Texts: we text about your rental (account, payment and access messages) and reply to texts you send us. We send marketing texts only with your consent, and consent is never required to rent. Reply STOP to stop texts or HELP for help; message and data rates may apply. You can also opt out by telling us in any reasonable way.
- Emails: every marketing email has an unsubscribe link. We will still send messages about your rental and notices the law requires.
- We don’t share your mobile number or text consent with anyone for their own marketing.
Your rights under Texas law
If you live in Texas, you have the right to:
- Confirm whether we process your personal data, and access it.
- Correct inaccurate personal data.
- Delete personal data you gave us or that we obtained about you.
- Get a copy of personal data you gave us, in a portable format, if it is available digitally.
- Opt out of targeted advertising, the sale of personal data (we don’t sell it) and profiling that produces legal or similarly significant effects (we don’t do this).
How to make a request
- Call or text (800) 417-0283, Monday–Friday 8 AM–8 PM and Saturday–Sunday 9 AM–5 PM (Central).
- Use our contact form and choose “Privacy request” in your message.
- Email admin@mountstorage.com.
We may ask for information to confirm your identity, such as your name, phone number, email address or rental details. Someone you authorize may submit an opt-out request for you. We respond within 45 days. If we need more time, we may extend that once by up to 45 more days and will tell you why. Requests are free up to twice a year. We may keep information we must keep by law or need for an active rental, payments, lien and tax records, or legal claims, and we will tell you if that applies.
Appeals
If we decline your request, you can appeal by replying to our decision or by contacting us with “Privacy appeal.” We will answer in writing within 60 days and explain our decision. If we deny your appeal, you can contact the Texas Attorney General at texasattorneygeneral.gov.
We will not deny you service, charge you a different price or give you a different level of service because you used these rights. Residents of other states can make the same requests, and we will honor them where we can.
How we protect information
We use encrypted connections (HTTPS), limit access to people who need it, and use providers with security programs. Payment cards are handled by a payment processor through Cubby, not stored on our website. No system is perfectly secure. If a breach affects your sensitive personal information, we will notify you as Texas law requires, within 60 days, and notify the Texas Attorney General when it affects 250 or more Texans.
How long we keep information
We keep personal information only as long as we need it for the purposes above: for tenants, during the rental and afterward for the records the law requires and for taxes, lien and collection matters and resolving disputes; for contact messages and waitlist entries, as long as needed to respond and follow up; for website analytics, under our Google Analytics retention settings. After that we delete or de-identify it.
Children
Our website is not directed to children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect their personal information. You must be 18 or older to rent. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
Other websites
Our website links to services with their own privacy policies, such as Google Maps for directions and our social media pages. Online checkout and the waitlist are provided by Cubby; see Cubby’s privacy policy.
Changes to this policy
When we change this policy, we update the date at the top. If a change is significant, we will say so on this page.
